World Cup fans are adamant that a Canadian footballer had a tampon lodged up his nose during the match against Croatia.
The exciting affair left fans on the edge of their seats for the duration of the crucial Group F tie. But viewers were suddenly taken aback when they spotted midfielder Atiba Hutchinson running around with what appeared to be a tampon in his nose.
Veteran Hutchinson, 39, suffered a blow to his face, but rather than receiving state-of-the-art medical attention, he appeared to be given the menstrual product to combat his unfortunate bleeding.

Fans were stunned at the scenes on display as they took to Twitter, with one user writing: “Did that Canada player have a tampon up his nose?”
Another commented: “A tampon in the nose is not something I thought I’d see at the World Cup. What a tournament.”

Others chimed in by tweeting: “MY BROTHER IS PLAYING A WORLD CUP WITH A TAMPON IN HIS NOSE” and “Why’s the lad got a tampon up his nose then?”
The Besiktas star remained on the pitch until Croatia grabbed their third goal in what was his 100th international cap. Unfortunately for Hutchinson, it ended in defeat as Les Rouges were beaten 3-1 on the night.
That left them rock bottom in Group F on zero points heading into their final group stage match, meaning they would not progress to the round of 16.
Still, Canada manager John Herdman will feel extremely hard done by at not having more to show for some inspired performances.
