World Cup fans are adamant that a Canadian footballer had a tampon lodged up his nose during the match against Croatia.

The exciting affair left fans on the edge of their seats for the duration of the crucial Group F tie. But viewers were suddenly taken aback when they spotted midfielder Atiba Hutchinson running around with what appeared to be a tampon in his nose.

Veteran Hutchinson, 39, suffered a blow to his face, but rather than receiving state-of-the-art medical attention, he appeared to be given the menstrual product to combat his unfortunate bleeding.
